WALL STREET JOURNAL (JUNE 13, 1967)

A début in Britain of impressive qualities in "Born to Flying Glass" by Keith Barnes… His title is from his prologue, reflecting a childhood in the midst of war :

Born to flying Glass
bombs strafing shrapnel murder
from me expect no pleasing tones
no obscurities….

He has adopted, or arrived at independently; James Dickey's way of punctuating and stressing a line by spacing out words. He keeps his promise about obscurities - mainly - and in spite of anger and occasional outcry, there are affirmations and many pleasing tones. There is an original vision here and he will surely be heard from further.
